On the Third Day of Christmas

Sweet Spryte has survived so much in her short life, but is still looking for a home to call her own.  You can find out more about her on our available dogs page here.  Spryte found her way to NEBCR after being flown to New England from Texas, where she was one of nearly 200 Border Collies seized from a puppy mill.  She's put her past behind her though, and is becoming quite the smarty pants.  Spryte loves to train, and has been very busy taking classes with her foster mom.

On the Second Day of Christmas

Be sure to check out Porter on our Available Dogs page here.  Porter is a very special guy who has been in rescue for over a year now.  He's a shy guy who is still learning to trust, but has already made so much progress.  He's looking for a home with people who will continue his socializing and help him learn about the many wonderful things this world has to offer.

On the First Day of Christmas

Are you ready for some holiday fun!?

Tune into the NEBCR Foster Dog Blog for the twelve days leading up to Christmas.  We'll be revealing a new verse each day of our very own version of The Twelve Days of Christmas, Border Collie style!

So, without further ado....
Be sure to check out Kyle on our Available Dogs page here.  Kyle has come a long way over the past year he has been in rescue.  He went from being a very scared, fearful dog who grew up with very little human contact, to quite a social butterfly who attends dog events on a regular basis with his foster mom.  He's even started taking herding lessons!  We've tried to tell him he's already been rescued, but he insists on a forever family of his own!

Just a friendly reminder:  Adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment.  A dog should never be an impulse buy, especially around the holidays.

Mr. Handsome

Quade has decided that, despite his dashing good looks and classic BC markings, he will be holding off on a modeling career in order to concentrate on finding a forever home.

In the meantime, he's gotten in touch with his inner movie star.  Check out Quade's very own feature film:

Looks AND brains!?  Who can resist that!

Interview with NEBCR Raven

On this beautiful fall afternoon, I got to sit down with NEBCR Raven to ask a few questions about the upcoming presidential elections. As expected, her responses were full of wisdom so characteristic of mature border collies everywhere.

Foster mom: Raven, just how excited are you about the upcoming elections?

Raven:

Foster mom: How did the vice-presidential debate make you feel?

Raven:

Foster mom: Do you have any feedback on the current state of the American military-industrial complex?

Raven:

Foster mom: What advice do you have for the two candidates?

Raven:

Foster mom: Thank you for your time, and I hope you will find your family soon.

Monkey Business

This little monkey has been busy!

After being rescued from a Texas puppy mill in April 2011 and flown across the country, Spryte's foster mom got busy putting her smart little BC brain to work.

Check out what a smarty pants this sweet little girl is:

Oh dear, Harp, what have they done to you now?

Excuse me...anyone out there?

hewwo?

I can't believe what they have done to make me even more pathetic...

i think i need a hug.

I had to spend the day at the vet and get an injection for my heart worm treatment today.

i'm pretty sure it was cruel and unusual torture. and i think i died.
like this.

what?  you don't believe me?!

Since it must be given via intramuscular injection in my back they had to shave a stupid square out of my fur!

 i'm hideous.

And since I'm still on crate rest for another 2 months...I'm all kinds of bored.

if i see one more kong, i will throw it at you.

maybe if i make a break for it now, no one will notice...

Hey now, Harp...if you run away, where do you think you are going to get your next dinner?

*sigh*

At least we are going to the NEBCR Reunion this weekend at Sugar Bush Farm...right?
I mean you have all that camping stuff ready to go and all...

Foster mom?
